FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We are here to help!

WHAT IS THE FILM FOUNDRY?

The Film Foundry is workforce development training for below-the-line crew professionals and novices alike. At the Film Foundry, class time becomes “call time”. You will have the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals while developing practical hands-on skills with access to our film set facilities and locations.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO JOIN SESSIONS IN THE FILM FOUNDRY?

We welcome everyone from beginner stages to experienced! Just like a film set, we have crew join the Film Foundry to gain new skills, develop existing skills, or even as a refresher session to stay on top of their trade, i.e., continuing education.

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE LIKE?

We operate as you would on any production set. The day before, you will receive your “call sheet” with your call time to the set. Once you have arrived, you will be issued a walkie during the entire session until the director has “wrapped”. Every day will be hands-on skill building starting at 1PM and, on average, wrap at 7PM on Saturday and Sunday. This will be typical of the weekend sessions. Each class has a different schedule, so check out our courses pages to learn more!

WHO INSTRUCTS AT THE FILM FOUNDRY?

Entertainment Industry Professionals from various businesses to academic institutions. Feel free to check the team here!

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE SESSION FEE?

All gear, equipment, curriculum, faculty, and access to The Film Foundry facilities and sets are included in each session fee. We have also set up a recommendation list for anyone interested in buying their own gear, books, and other equipment outside of the course. For any questions regarding prices, please see our prices and course page.

DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL AID?

We do not personally offer Financial Aid. However, we welcome you to apply for The Film Foundry scholarship which is given to select qualified candidates.

IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR THE WAIT LIST?

At The Film Foundry, we are considered rolling admission. Whoever is on the wait list first will have the opportunity to take the sessions they signed up before the rest of the list. Payment is due in full the week of your first session.

WILL THIS LAND ME A JOB IN THE FILM INDUSTRY?

No studio can guarantee a job. However, we can confirm that we will equip you with all of the necessary tools it takes to obtain any of the starter positions on a production. The moment you set foot on any studio lot, you will be prepared and comfortable with the procedures.
