ACTING FOR CAMERA

Ready, Set, Action!

Acting for Camera is an 8-week course designed to guide actors through the various stages of booking and delivering a powerful performance on film. In this course, we’ve combined the art and science of industry techniques and business practices to make your talent shine. 

You will not only gain knowledge over technical aspects such as hitting your marks, framing and eye-lines, but confidently be prepared for any production by being immersed in various on-set scenarios. Students are expected to be fully prepared each week as they are given opportunities to work alongside industry professionals currently casting and acting within the entertainment industry.

Success is not accomplished overnight but obtained by developing your skill set in order to make a memorable and captivating performance. By completion of this course, you will obtain the materials necessary in developing demo reels requested by casting directors and talent agencies. 

 
 

ABOUT THE COURSE

Acting for Camera is an 8-week course designed to guide actors through the various stages of booking and delivering a powerful performance on film. In this course, we’ve combined the art and science of industry techniques to make your on-camera appearances shine. 


You will not only gain knowledge over technical aspects such as hitting your marks, framing and eye-line, but gain confidence by being immersed in various production scenarios. Students are expected to be fully prepared each week as they are given opportunities to work alongside industry professionals currently casting and acting within the entertainment industry.


Success is not accomplished overnight but obtained by developing your skill set in order to make a memorable and captivating performance. 

The class will be every Saturday from 2PM-5PM for 8 weeks starting July 30th and completed by September 24th.

WHAT WILL EACH SESSION HOLD?

SESSION 1: INTRO AUDITONS

GOALS:

  • Assemble your sample folder for use as an actor

  • Mock Auditions

    • Students will be provided a monologue, which they will film in a mock audition​

    • These will be reviewed and the discussion of the do's and don'ts of acting will begin!

SESSION 2: ACTING AS A BUSINESS

GOALS:

  • Overview of Previous week

  • Two person table reads

  • Get to know the business of acting including: 

    • Forms/Paperwork​

    • Table Reads

    • Headshots

    • Resumes

    • Demo Reels

    • and more!

SESSION 3: TWO PERSON SCENE SET UP

GOALS:

  • Film Two Person Scene and Review

  • Movement Exercises

  • Committing to Character Intentions

  • Review new script for next week

SESSION 4: CYC WALL CAR SCENE

GOALS:

  • Learn about Technicalities and direction

  • Review Intensity training and character intention

  • Film CYC Wall Scene 

SESSION 5: ACTING IN THE GENRES

GOALS: SAFETY

  • Determine your type cast

  • Read scenes and determine their genre

  • Talk over types of movie genres and learn how to act in your genre

  • Review script for session 6

SESSION 6: SPOKESPERSON, INTERVIEWS, AND PR/MEDIA TRAINING

GOALS:

  • Practice PR/Media Training 

  • Film: 

    • Commercial Experience

    • Mock Interview

SESSION 7: COMMERCIAL EXPERIENCE

GOALS:

  • Film your own Commercial!

  • Prepare a monologue for the final week

SESSION 8: FINISH DEMO REEL AND CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

GOALS:

  • Recap of the course

  • Exit Monologue and Mock Audition

  • Receive Certificates of Completion!
